Nouvelle Vague stands for the balance between three tangents: images and words, elegance and youth, beauty and the unexpected moment.
We are a unique two-person creative team-a producer and a rep with a combined 25 years of experience-who offer a home for a collective of kindred spirits. Our artists have been recognized by the Sony World Awards and the International Photography Awards, and we have run productions based from sunny beaches in Miami and Los Angeles to the crowded pavement of New York. Our artists have created stunning work for American Express, Roxy, Max Mara, Complex Magazine, Oakley, Nike, Vanity Fair, Vogue, and Fox Racing.
We take our name from the French New Wave and its embrace of contradictory aesthetics. We will travel halfway around the world to satisfy our inspiration, but we measure these adventures against the comforts of our home in Los Angeles. We trust our eye and our instincts equally. We believe in works-in-progress, in the creative energy that converts ideas into images. The end result is sometimes a revelation-not from mindless doing, but because the source of inspiration is immaterial, diverse, and most effective when unanticipated. The creative process has no boundaries, or questions of authenticity. So instead, we balance its push and pull like the breaking of the waves.

COPIOUS is a smart team of talented folks that take a craftsmanship approach to create great work for leading clients. We love new challenges and working on a wide variety of projects - whether it's developing custom application for start-ups or conducting complete online overhauls for established, national clients.
So, how do you fit in? We're looking for a self-starter with the ability to take on a range of complex and intriguing challenges - developing everything from highly scalable websites, to mobile and social networks, to large-scale data management and processing. This isn't a job for rookies, you have to have "been-there and done-that" a few times to make the cut.
What's the day to day like? Well it certainly doesn't involve sitting through mindless meetings all day. Typically, you'll start-off with a daily stand-up meeting to get a feel for what's in the pipeline. Then it's a mix of extended blocks of interruption-free development time, helping a fellow dev solve a nasty bug, and the occasional fire fighting. We thrive on collaboration, so there's ample opportunity to walk a few feet to the left to chat with the designer or roll over to the strategist to discuss functionality.
What is COPIOUS? Well, we're not a start-up, as we've been in business for nearly 11 years, but we're not a traditional, mega-agency either. Do we have time sheets? Yes. Do we have TPS reports? No. Are there departments? Nope. Do we have an experienced team lead, project manager, account manager, designer, ia/ux - who actually know what they're doing? Hell yeah.
Full time or Freelance? We're open to a flexible arrangement - this could mean remote or on-site work and freelance or full-time. If you can ensure us that working from the beaches of Fuji is doable, then we're open to it...as long as we can have team meetings at your place.
What is needed?
* 2 years proven experience building awesome web apps using ruby, rails, and merb
* Experience building scalable, low latency system architectures.
* Experience implementing development best practice methodologies and design patterns
* Ability to work in a flexible manner, building prototypes and evolving them into scalable production-quality systems
* Ability to quickly pick up new technologies and incorporate them into production software
* An analytic mindset
* An appreciation for solid approaches to backups, security, and performance.
How to apply? If you think you're a great fit, get in touch. Show us your GitHub repos, code you've created and/or live websites running code you've written. Sending a resume is "okay", but we prefer to see what you've accomplished and to hear what gets you up in the morning.
